Based on a Facebook/Google search, this guy is trash, yet he supposedly passed a background check so I have no grounds to deny renting to him. I really wanted to pass on the current prospective renter, but legally my hands are tied because it would clearly be discrimination. I’m nervous because the city in which my property is located is VERY accommodating toward renters. However, they backed out and my landlord had to generate the paperwork for the next applicant (who offered $100 more a month). Last week, the situation looked promising and my prospective renters were a married couple willing to pay $200 a month over the asking price. I recently moved to Europe, but decided to keep my place in the US for tax purposes (as well as to generate a modest income before selling in a few years).
